E-Step Calculator — Extruder Calibration

Calculate corrected E-steps from your measured vs requested extrusion length for precise extruder calibration.

Your current firmware E-steps value (check with M503)

How much filament you commanded (usually 100mm)

How much filament was actually extruded

How We Calculate This

E-Step Formula

New E-steps = Current E-steps × (Requested length ÷ Measured length)

Calibration steps

  1. Heat the nozzle to your normal printing temperature
  2. Mark the filament 120mm above the extruder
  3. Command the printer to extrude 100mm (G1 E100 F100)
  4. Measure the remaining distance from mark to extruder
  5. Actual extruded = 120 − remaining distance
  6. Enter the values above and apply the corrected E-steps
