Print Time Estimator — 3D Print Duration
Estimate how long a 3D print will take from part dimensions, infill, speed and layer height.
Part length (X axis)
Part width (Y axis)
Part height (Z axis)
Internal fill density
Height of each printed layer
Print head movement speed
How We Calculate This
Time Estimation Method
- Extrusion time = Total volume / (Speed x Layer height x Line width)
- Travel overhead = 15% added for non-printing moves
- Layer changes = ~3 seconds per layer for Z-hop and positioning
Total volume is calculated from wall perimeters, top/bottom solid layers, and infill. Filament weight uses PLA density of 1.24 g/cm3.
